Big and Beautiful

There are two Watuppa Ponds: North and South. Combined, these two ponds have a surface area of over 3,000 acres. The North basin supplies drinking water to Fall River, so all water-based activities like swimming, boating, fishing, etc., are prohibited.

However, you can do all of these activities in the South basin! Residents and visitors enjoy boating, kayaking, and fishing here! There is a concrete launch ramp on the northwest shore of the pond.

Undoubtedly, the most popular activity is fishing. South Watuppa plays host to many bass tournaments because of its large populations of small and largemouth bass. There are also tiger muskies, chain pickerel, brown bullhead, black crappie, and sunfish.

In August 1892, one of the world's most famous mysteries took place in Fall River. Andrew and Abbey Borden were murdered in their home, later found by the family maid. Their daughter, Lizzie, went on trial for the double homicide but was later acquitted.

Over 120 years later, the house still stands as it was on that fateful morning. Book a tour during the day to get the full story or stay overnight in the haunted house.

Head to downtown Fall River to see Battleship Cove, the world’s largest collection of World War II naval vessels.
